Michelin Tire Reviews: The Michelin Primacy and Michelin HydroEdge.

Michelin tire overall performance is renowned and the Michelin Primacy HP and Michelin HydroEdge blend overall performance and value that make best tires on the streets today.

The Michelin brothers, Andre and Edouard, registered their first patent request for a “detachable, repairable tire” in 1890 and made history that same year when Charles Torrant won the Paris-Brest-Paris on a pair of Michelin’s very best.

Of course, the Paris-Brest-Paris was just a bicycle race, but the victory was an auspicious beginning for a family business that’s name would become Michelin Worldwide and synonymous for high performance tires and racing.

In the following paragraphs, I’m going to review two of the most popular Michelin tires, the Primacy Hp and the HydroEdge:

The Michelin Primacy HP -

Primacy HP tires are designed for high performance vehicles and provide precise handling and braking in temperate environments on dry and wet surfaces.

Luxury touring vehicles like the Lexus GS 430, Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6, all sport the Michelin Primacy HP as original equipment.

The HP tire is advertised as a luxury touring “summer tire.” But, don’t allow that to fool you. Summer tires are designed for year round use. (For ideal performance, summer tires really should not used wherever conditions are persistently near or under freezing.)

Consumers give the Primacy HP high marks in all categories: 10/10 for handling and braking, 9/10 for comfort, 9/10 for fuel efficiency, and 7/10 for tread-wear life.

So far as I’m concerned, one of the greatest features of the Primacy HP is the option of Michelin’s “Zero Pressure Technology” which provides security and convenience in case there is a blow-out. Zero pressure tires come with a reinforced sidewall that props up the weight of your automobile even after a loss of air pressure – even with no air in the tire, whatsoever. With zero pressure technology, it is possible to drive up to 50 miles at 55 mph, so you’re able to go on to a safe and secure place. You don’t need to panic about changing a tire on the shoulder of a fast paced highway and you will never be stranded or alone waiting for help.

Michelin Worldwide is also deeply committed to “green” technology.

This year marked the 3rd season of the American Le Mans Series, Michelin Green X Challenge, which acknowledges the Prototype and GT class cars that prove “cleanest, fastest, and most efficient” in each ALMS racing event. The Michelin Green X labels on every Primacy HP ensures that your ride is energy-efficient and that CO2 emissions are minimal.

In fact, when you ride on Michelin Green X tires you’re riding on one of the industry’s most energy-efficient and lowest polluting tires.

The HydroEdge -

The Michelin HydroEdge is an all season tire designed for passenger cars and minivans. At its heart, the HydroEdge is designed to provide today’s consumer with value!

The HydroEdge is a high-quality, longer lasting tire that offers an unmatched blend of service life, wet braking performance, and excellent fuel efficiency. Michelin boasts that the HydroEdge lasts 33,000 miles beyond its leading rival, the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring tire; and, Michelin supports the HydroEdge with a 90,000 mile warranty.

But, make no mistake, the HydroEdge is all Michelin! It’s packed the latest innovations in tire technology: An uni-directional tread design is combined with specially designed water evacuation grooves called HydroChutes that quickly sweep water away from the contact area to maximize traction and increase resistance to hydroplaning in wet conditions. The silica enhanced HydroEdge tread compound is designed with full-depth sipes that deliver excellent traction in light snow and ice. The sidewall contains Michelin’s Dura Black technology that keeps your tires looking sharp and black longer.

According to Michelin, “The right tires change everything!” I could not agree more.

If you want a luxury touring tire that promises comfort and high performance, the Primacy HP will do the job perfectly. If your driving needs require longer lasting tire that lives up to the Michelin star, the Michelin HydroEdge is your best solution.
