Cannonball racing is getting more and more popular these days. It is an illegal cross country race, they are not always cross country but they go much further distances than street racing. With street racing you just go short distances like block to block or maybe a little longer, but that is not the case with cannon ball racing. Some cannonball races go from town to town or much further. Many of these races have made history because of the amount of distance they cover.

This type of racing requires you to plan ahead. You need to know where the traffic lights are and if they are being monitored. You have to know what checkpoints you need to hit as well. With a race like this you will need to stop and get gas frequently so you will need to know where to go to get it. Cannonball racing is illegal and you need to be very careful in your planning, take all precautions that you can. This is why there is more street racing instead of cannonball runs.

For border officials and law enforcement it is hard to distinguish the racing cars from regular cars. Because there are so many people coming through the borders it is hard to tell. So this makes it harder for the border officials and law enforcement to catch them. If this type of racing is done in a rally there is nothing wrong with that, however some rallies can get out of hand. There isn’t much cannonball racing but it is done all over the world.

This type of racing is not as dangerous as drag racing however the long distance driving and the speed can prove to be dangerous when combined together. Racers that are not as experienced as other racers may find that their vehicle is not as good as other cars and they may be a danger to other motorists on the road in the process. You are going to be racing and therefore driving at high speeds. If you are not paying attention you could cause an accident.

Cannonball run racers should always avoid roads that are busy as well as highly populated highways. This is because roads that are highly populated are more apt to accidents and other dangers. Cars stop and go in the blink of an eye and this can make it hard to drive fast like you should during a race.
